Conneaut Harbor Lighthouse

I found this picture on Flickr.

I can't believe someone else actually know's where this town is! This lighthouse sits at the entrance to Conneaut Harbor on Lake Erie. The lighthouse is no longer occupied but the light still guides ships into the harbor - especially the large iron ore boats. This picture shows a calm day on the lake but the weather can turn on a dime. It is not uncommon to see 8 ft waves pound the shore.

I've never actually seen a real lighthouse up close and personal. Somebody in the 60's wrote a short story about a light house with a foghorn that was answered by a "Nessie" type creature who suffered from unrequited love. silly stuff but lighthouses do seem romantic.
